You know how song lyrics pop into your head when something you're doing or something you see has to do with a song? A few examples:
- Its raining out and all of a sudden you sing "its raining its pouring the old man is snoring..."
- You see a newscast on how Route 66 is ending in Santa Monica (happened last night) and you start "Well it goes through St. Louie, down to Missouri, Oklahoma city looks oh so pretty."
- Any day when you are leaving for work and you say "hi ho hi ho, its off to work I go..."
Well, this sort of thing happens to me in a different capacity whenever I do the laundry and a receipt or a piece of paper sneaks its way into the washer. We have front loaders and for those of you that also have front loaders, you know that there is a rubber door seal that everything gets stuck in. Well, all of the soggy paper bits are waiting for me in the rubber seal. Now, the first thing that pops into my head when I see this is Kathy Carlisle saying "puke chunks, ma'am".
One day we were up visiting the Carlisle gang and Kathy was telling me that this rubber seal is a real pain in the butt when you have children that get the flu and have to wash "soiled" clothes/bedding/towels. She was expressing her frustration to me and, in doing so, imitated a salesman (with a semi-southern accent) that might try to sell you one of these fancy schmancy front loader washers. "Well, here you have the door seal which traps puke chunks. Puke chunks, ma'am."
So, thank you Kathy. And for the rest of you, may this blog be in your thoughts when you have future run-ins with that pesky rubber seal.
